“This is your government. As your representative on the Council, I will ask for your input and keep you informed, always.”
All of us lead busy, complicated lives. COVID has made that even more true. Our representational form of government means that if you send me to Council, you trust me to make the right decisions on your behalf, to be your voice in the room when you can’t be there. For me, that means really knowing what you think and keeping you informed as to your rights and your opportunities to be heard whether at a council meeting or at any of the many committees and commissions that make up our local system of governance.
As a lawyer for the past twenty-one years, I have represented people of every race, gender, and socioeconomic level, advocating for them and working to find a solution that works. That means that I put other people's interests above my own every single day because I see that as my duty. It means being able to explain things clearly and concisely to my clients, helping them understand their options-even when thye may not like those options. In doing so, I have proven that I can also agree to disagree in a civil manner while working toward a mutual solution. I believe that in these unprecedented times, this skill is more essential than ever.
